NeighborImpact Head Start Book Drive

For the Love of Reading!

We are excited to kick off our 6th Annual Head Start Book Drive! The Central Oregon NeighborImpact Head Start program supports 609 families in Central Oregon through early childhood education. Each of their enrolled families receive all the benefits of coming into their classrooms, and also support for their families with other necessities such as food and clothing. However, sending books home with the kids is not an allowable cost, and that's where you come in! Every donated book ends up in the home library of a child in need.

Roundabout Books believes in the power of growing up with a house full of books. Multiple studies have shown that growing up with books in the home increases literacy and vocabulary, positively impacts future academic growth and job attainment, increases awareness and comprehension, expands horizons, and lifts communication.

We are thrilled to once again partner with SELCO Community Credit Union. Their passion for this project helps us reach our goal every year! SELCO has once again committed to matching your book donations  - and this year we've committed to donated 1,218 books! If we reach that number, it means that every household in the Head Start program will receive two books this year.

Head Start is looking for book titles on social-emotional development, going to school, and promoting a positive transition to Kindergarten. Children’s books in Spanish are also available and appreciated. They serve 111 children in the Early Head Start Program (0-3 years), and 498 children in Head Start (3-5 years). The book lists below are designed to offer a sampling of the range of books we are collecting for these families. To make a donation, simply click on a book title and add it to your shopping cart. In the order comments, please note "Book Drive Donation."  You may shop online here or purchase books in the store. Thank you for supporting our shared community.
