Sandra Coats has been a long-time customer of Roundabout, and is an avid reader. In particular, she loves literay fiction, historical fiction and fantasy. She also has two millenial children who grew up in a house full of books. Both children grew up seeing the Harry Potter movie premiers while wearing wizard costumes. Ask her for recommendations if you need some advice for children/young adults. Finally, Sandy is the new facilitator of the Out of this World book club which meets every other month.
Haunting tale about a sleeping disease that attacks a small mountain town in California. Beautifully written, and a captivating story.
This was my son's favorite bedtime book. It's a charming story of the Tosis family who have a dog named Hally. They decide to get rid of Hally because of his horrible breath. As luck would have it, the night before he is scheduled to leave, burglars break into the home. Hally is able to knock them out with his breath and becomes the beloved hero of the family.
Dav Pilkey is a fantastic story-teller, and captures your heart with his stories.
The Eye of the World opened my world to fantasy series. I was in search of something along the lines of Lord of the Ring, and a college friend suggested this series. With fourteen books in the series, I was hooked from book one.
This series follows the adventures of five characters after their home is invaded by Trollocs. With fantastic world-building and strong female characters, the story unwinds into a world that feels more and more real as you progress through the series.
Robert Jordan is a masterful storyteller. Pull up a chair, and start the series. You won't be disappointed.
